FAIR TRADE
Surci creates sustainable products that are kind to people and the planet, guided by the motto: “Empowering Filipino women with confidence and independence!”
By paying fair compensation to our knitters, we support their livelihoods—funding children’s education, purchasing livestock, and expanding or renovating homes.
The joy of improving their lives, coupled with the confidence and pride that comes from having their work recognized, fuels their motivation.
This, in turn, leads to the creation of higher-quality products.

TAKE A LOOK AT CEBU!
Surci products are made in our own workshop on Cebu Island in the Philippines.
Cebu Island, located at the heart of the Visayas region in central Philippines, is also known as one of the world’s premier resort destinations.
While its central area bustles with tourists amid hotels and shopping malls,
many people still live in environments without electricity or gas.

Chicharron Shop
The city of Calcal, home to Surci’s workshop, also preserves historic buildings constructed during the Spanish era. Having flourished as a town along ancient trade routes traversed by travelers, it is also known as “Cebu’s Heritage Town.”
Its famous local specialties include ampao, a rice cracker resembling rice crackers, and chicharron, pork rinds fried in oil. It is also known as a production center for sandals and shoes.
Connect with knitters!
ーSurcy’s Round Tagー

A signed autograph by the knitter herself
Each Surci bag features a large round tag bearing the handwritten signature of the knitter who crafted it.
This signature also serves as a testament to the responsibility and pride they take in their work, ensuring each bag is made to the highest standard.
Your messages
give me confidence and joy.
The tag’s reverse side allows you to write a message to the knitter and mail it (Japanese OK, no stamp needed). We deliver it responsibly to the knitter. A bag that travels from the maker’s hands to you, the user.
Your thoughts connect from Japan to the maker, circulating back to enhance the quality of their craftsmanship.

The Cycle of Kindness and Possibility
Additionally, the raffia-woven doll charm attached to the tag carries the wish that “children can study diligently in a better environment, even if just a little, because their mothers work.”
Through Surci bags, why not join us in participating in the cycle of kindness and possibility?
Surcy’s Future Reform
ーFor the future of our communityー
At Surci, we strive for sustainable manufacturing by undertaking various initiatives not only for our knitters but also for the future of the people living in our community.

- Prison bag production/Social reintegration support
This initiative began in spring 2015 with knitting skills training for women incarcerated at the Calcal City prison, enabling them to work at Surci upon release.
Staff from Surci’s workshop visit the prison to teach bag knitting techniques and inspect the finished bags. The wages earned are used to purchase daily necessities or are sent by the prison to cover the cost of school supplies needed by the children of the incarcerated women.
- Employment Support for Children
We are preparing to introduce knitting into home economics classes at junior high and high schools in Karakaru City. We believe this will provide a pathway for students after they finish their studies, while also boosting the confidence of the knitters from Surusi who will teach the classes.
- Library Construction Plan
【1 Hook × 1 Book for 1 Library】 Project: Half of the brooch sales are pooled into the Sulci Fund to build a small library attached to our workshop. Additionally, 3% of the wages paid to our knitters has been set aside as the Sulci Fund since our founding. This fund will be used for the knitters’ medical expenses and their children’s education costs, and is also planned to be utilized for the construction of the library.
